MU Warwick To9ether

MU Warwick To9ether is a new kind of ‘branch’ to reach out across the churches of Warwick. In normal times, we meet on 9th of each month in a variety of places and at different times of day, depending on day/season/availability.  When 9th falls on a weekend, we aim to plan a family-oriented gathering, and on weekdays we try to be as inclusive as possible, in order to raise awareness of what Mothers’ Union is doing and in which we can be involved in the 21st century.

Three of us are collaborating in this venture: Denise Godfrey who lives in Warwick, worships at Northgate Methodist, and leads at Barford branch (; Lorraine Jaeger, MU Parenting Facilitator (07974 592263), and Val Brant ( who both worship at St Michael’s Budbrooke.

Like other groups, we have not been able to meet in person for ages. In early July 2020, a few of Denise Godfrey’s MU friends met in St Nicholas Park on a very wet evening, and instead of the intended walk, they sheltered under a tree and prayed for Denise, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Sadly, Denise passed away in September. She and Gill James had previously been the brains and brawn behind sprucing up the flower tubs outside Westgate School, with the Headteacher’s blessing; Gill has since planted some violas there in memory of Denise (see pic taken last year).

As part of our Christmas provision for our Make Lunch families, member Gill Cousins knitted a quantity of Christmas pudding covers, which we filled with either chocs or a satsuma, and also some gift bags, which again were filled with a small bag of Maltesers or some chocolate coins.  All were well received. I can send the patterns to anyone interested for next year!
